It all started when I saw a picture of a soft clock thirty odd years ago.
The picture was a door that led a girl to the world. The girl was imprisoned in a dark room of ignorance and anxiety. The girl was me.
When I began stepping into the wide world with fear I thought I was in the outside world for a while, but in fact I was just moving towards my inner self...
It was hard for me to live well in the real world, but the inner world was tolerant and forgiving, and freed me of anxiety.
In there I enjoy loneliness, wander about and I meet all things of a shade.

I was born in a town near Tokyo, Japan. Now live in Tokyo.
I was involved in the art world on and off in contemporary stage plays, producing images and butoh around 1974.
I have been doing almost self-taught painting since I was overwhelmed by Salvador Dali's work at the age of 15.
I have three children, two daughters and one son, and after I had the last child in 1987, I undertook a distance course at university thinking to broaden my knowledge. I studied art history, aesthetics and visual culture managed to obtain two bachelor's degrees.
In 1998 I published a small book called "A Closed Garden".
